Indigenous Peoples� Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN) held ADAT Awards 2013 to honor individuals documenting and reporting Indigenous Peoples� hassle in defending their rights. ADAT Awards 2013 is given to three categories, namely Film Dokumenter (documentary films) for indigenous communities registered as AMAN�s members.


  • Produk Radio (radio products) for AMAN�s community radios and/or member of Indonesia Community Radio Networks (JRKI).

  • Jurnalistik (journalistic) for journalists of printed or online media.

  • The registration was due on 6 August 2013. The winners were announced in the reception dinner of the International Day of the World�s Indigenous Peoples held by AMAN on 19 August 2013 in Jakarta.


The winners are:

  • Documentary �Kurang Sisik Rumput Tumbuh, Kurang Siang Tunoy Menjedi�, produced by the KMB (Kelompok Makekal Bersatu) indigenous community, Orang Rimba Bukit 12, Jambi province.

  • Public service announcement �Hutan Adat Bukan Lagi Hutan Negara� of Radio Gelora FM, Secanggang indigenous community, Sumatra Utara province.

  • Journalist Prodita Sabarini of The Jakarta Post, with article �Recognition of Indigenous Peoples Stuck in Red Tape�, published on 24 June 2013.


Each winner will get trophy, certificate and prize money IDR 2,500,000.
